Robots replace humans when structures must be demolished

MCA’s program on October 22, 2013 featured a demonstration of robotic and small demolition equipment presented by Maverick Cutting and Breaking and Frattalone Companies, Inc.  During the session small traditional breaking equipment alongside robotic equipment provided by Maverick Cutting and Breaking was used to demonstrate demolition on pieces of reinforced concrete.

Construction and Facility Management Intercollegiate Career Fair

The University of Minnesota Construction and Facility Management program is hosting the first intercollegiate event of its kind, a career fair and quiz bowl event organized to attract students from all nine upper Midwest region schools of Construction Management! Current students and alumni in the fields of Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture and Interior Design are encouraged to attend.

Partner schools include Minnesota State Mankato, Minnesota State Moorhead, Dunwoody Institute of Technology, University of Wisconsin Stout, Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa, South Dakota State University, North Dakota State University, and the University of Minnesota.

Impact of Recent Legislation and Regulation on Minnesota Construction Contractors presented by CliftonLarsonAllen

The Minnesota legislature recently made considerable changes to the tax structure. Some specifically affect the operations of construction contractors, including changes to sales and use tax and estate and gift tax. In addition, the deadline to implement many health care reform regulations is right around the corner. This session will equip contractors operating in Minnesota with all of the information needed to prepare and plan for the upcoming changes. This session is designed for CFOs, controllers, financial managers, owners, and other decision makers of Minnesota contractors.

Understanding and Using the New 2014 MnDOT Standard Specifications Division I presented by Hammargren & Meyer, P.A.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation ("MnDOT") has completely re-written its book of Standard Specifications, including Division I dealing with changes, schedules, time extensions, claims, compensation, and definitions of key terms. If you work on MnDOT projects, as a prime contractor or as a subcontractor, you need to know and understand these changes. The construction attorneys at Hammargren & Meyer, P.A., with assistance from the construction claims professionals at The Kenrich Group, will be explaining these changes and what you must do to comply with these new requirements during a free, no-cost half-day program that will be conveniently offered at four locations throughout the state on four different days.
